Learn to Fail [ Feb. 12, 2012], failure is the most significant, but hurtful step towards a successful life. Learn to fail.” By Angel B. Perez, the author explains how a student gained his attention through the honesty the student provided when asked what he expects to learn or experience in college. The student answered with, “I look forward to the possibility of failure.” Failure
In life we tend to see failure as a terrible thing. When we do fail, most of the time we want to give up and see it as the end of the world. However there are few that see failure as an opportunity to do better and rethink the mistakes that were made in the past. Angela Duckworth, Emily Hanford, and CarolDweck all provide their research on how one can have highachievement e in life. Angela’s Duckworthresearch on grit proposes the idea that if someone stays persistence for a long time they can master something.
John Wooden once said “failure is not fatal but failure to change might be”(John Wooden Quote.) Wooden was addressing the idea that one only fails if they do not change after messing up. I never fully understood that principle until I attempted the FFA Creed Career Development Event. After not giving all that I could during the contest, I experienced the worst defeat of my FFA career. I had always thought that Wooden’s statement was only inspire those who had lost, but through personal failures I have learned otherwise.
It was really hard for mea t first because it was something knew to me but I started getting the hang of it and I started having fun learning about what they do in this program and how they contribute to their community. Although sometimes it would get tough everything they did had a purpose. The yelling, the physical training, and the tests.
Through this program I hope to learn the fundamentals of community based research, how to advocate for health policy, a most importantly how to educate communities on health. I believe that is the most rewarding thing I can get out of this program. Having the ability, the power, to change someone’s life, by just giving him or her basic health care knowledge is so empowering. Knowing that I changed that life, that because of me hopefully their health will better instead of worsen. Through this program I hope to learn from the community, to learn their experiences, which will allow me to be even more conscious of the disparities they are forced to face, hence causing me to ponder “how can this issue be fixed?”, “what policy can be implemented”?.
In the article, Want to Get Into College by Angel B. Perez, a Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Pitzer College, in Claremont, California (2012), argues that failure is an option in human nature and that 's people should embrace it and learn how to recover from it to gain experience to make less mistakes. Perez point of view of this topic is that there 's no perfection and it 's fine to mistakes, failing and getting back up even stronger and more experience than before doesn 't show failure it shows courage and heart that you don’t give up no matter the predicament you in. The author’s purpose is that there’s no perfection in the world, he wants more students that want to fail and not afraid to show it but can also get
but I did. I felt welcomed and enjoyed talking to Isaiah as he taught me how to backboard and Lauren as she taught me IV set up. Over all had a great time my first meeting and couldnt wait to come back. I saw that the explorer post could and would teach me more about the medical field compared to anyother thing. I decided to apply to the University of Wisconsin-Madison because of their nursing school’s collaboration with scientists and renowned researchers across the UW-Madison campus, the nation, and the world. This school will help me network with the best researchers and scientists whom I can learn and grow from. The university is the third largest research university in the country and will help me further my career in research as a nursing student. Research is very important in the nursing field due to the fast growing pace of diseases and illnesses. There needs to be new techniques in developing cures and care plans, especially treatment that are unique to each individuals’ needs.

The idea that challenge is all for one’s edification will fall on deaf ears after experiencing failure, but in retrospection without failure the nature of achievement is lost. Those last notes would not nearly have been as sweet if I had not known the dismay of dead ones. I still refuse to play Bach, but I must admit he has an innovative method of teaching. I believe that my experience with failure will prepare me for challenging courses at Rutgers and beyond. The determination I learned I had will be essential to my success at Rutgers, and will aid me both in my academic and career goals.
Last semester was composed of a critical care lecture class and two clinical courses, which were mental health and community. I try my best to be open-minded and willing to make every new experience a learning opportunity. For my community clinical we were placed at an assisted living center. For our first few meetings I could tell that the group’s overall impression of our placement was not favorable. At first the feelings about our clinical were not spoken outright and could be seen as withdrawal.
One of my future goals and the most important one is to become a doctor. It is my life dream, and the only thing I am seeking for. Doctor is someone capable to save and help others life in ways that are not possible in other careers. Being a doctor for me is not just like any job, it is achieving a dream I have since I was 6 years old. One of the main reasons I picked this major is my family; my family members are almost all doctors, and my dad too.
