Society is simple. One does not get to choose when he/she grows up. Society tells him/her when to grow up. Society reveals to its children, when the proper time is to grow up. Usually, it is too soon before a child is ready.
At the age of 18, one has new rights associated with being independent. One also has new responsibilities and are held personally accountable for their actions. The new rights that come along with being 18 lead into the topic of the 26th amendment. Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
Despite popular belief, the drinking age was not only set to prevent teens from drinking and making bad decisions. It was set at 21 years because teenagers can develop serious health issues from consuming
The article, "16-Year-Olds Want a Vote. Fifty Years Ago, So Did 18-Year-Olds", talks about the pros and cons of why 16-year-olds should or shouldn't vote. I believe that the voting age in the United States should not be lowered to 16, because they are not mature enough, and their argument is not as strong as the one in the 60's. 16-year-olds should not be allowed to vote because most are not mature. Representative Mark E. Green said, " We don’t allow a 16-year-old to buy a beer, and the decision making is because of their ability to reason at that age,”.
I would thinking that the problem wouldn’t be really if you should drink at 18 because you could be immature. Any person can be immature at any age. So therefore I am in favor by lowering the drinking age to 18. I am in favor of lowering the drinking age to 18 because many people say that at the age of 18 you are immature. Immaturity can be at any age, I would say that it all depends in the way children are raised at home and grow up to be responsible to know what life has to bring.
Many minors or teens do not understand the consequences of drinking, and/or binge drinking. Some states have made the decision of lowering the drinking age to 18 and have realized that it is now backfiring. There has been an excessive increase in the amount of fatalities due to allowing 18 year olds to drink. The drinking age should not be lowered to 18 for many reasons: there would be more car accidents, it ruins the teens’ or minors’ bodies, and teens and minors do not understand the consequences and how they affect their future.
The reason I say this is because they are able to drive which means they have to be more responsible. It also means that I do not have to drive my kid and their date to their destination because that would be very awkward. Being 16 means that they have to be very responsible and their are a lot of responsibilities such as focusing on school work and driving. If their is a 16-year old dating a 19 year old I feel like the 19-year old would push the 16-year old to do stuff they did not want to do. A 16-year old might be mature enough to say no.
Most 16 year old kids dont know much about or learn much about the presidental election to be able to vote. I feel the voting age 18 is a little risky itself and going lower is just unprofessional. Judges are comparing our country to diffrent countries like our rules and presidents are the same. My arguement is to keep the voting age at 18 years old.
When a child turns 18, they open to many more responsibilities than any other teenage birthday. When a child is 18, they are not considered a kid anymore, they are adults. One of the many perks of being 18 is kids can vote and they can enlist in the army. In 1984, President Reagan had signed the National Minimum Drinking Age Act, and this required all states to set the drinking age to 21. If an 18 year old can enlist in the army, and put their life at risk they should be able to drink alcohol at 18.
Driving at Sixteen Driving at 16 is a right of passage steeped in tradition. For decades, teens have received their driver 's licenses at 16. While some might say this is too young and seek to raise the minimum age to 18, generations of teens have successfully managed the responsibilities of driving. The minimum driving age of 16 should not be raised because it would increase transportation problems, keep teens from fulfilling responsibilities, and prevent oversight of new drivers.
The age of 16 is far too young. A 16 yearold should be more concerned with education, not politics. Lowering the age to 16 is not going to increase much of
In recent years, it has become more and more apparent that the adolescents of today are unfit for the responsibilities currently available to them. Equipping someone who is unable to fathom the risks of the decisions they make with the power to put themselves and others in danger is far too precarious. For this reason, the age at which adolescents become adults currently established is dangerously low. The age of legal adulthood should be 25, because at this age young adults are truly capable of comprehending the consequences of their actions and are able to handle the responsibilities of adulthood.
Though they have their similarities, toddlers and teenagers have differences. Teenagers have more freedom than toddlers. Toddlers are usually being occupied by an adult all day. Depending on the age of the teenager, they could be occupied by an adult only during school. If a teenager is eighteen or nineteen they are considered adults.
keep the voting age at 18. 18 is the age when one is considered an adult in america, for many it is an age where one takes very huge steps into our future. Many start college, move out ,and it is also the legal age to vote in the presidential elections. Voting is a huge deal for America ,we have to choose someone to lead our country for the next four years. Voting should be taken very seriously ,our regular daily life depends on it, we need a president that will lead us into a good path, creating jobs, making sure our country is safe.
Maturity is not age. Maturity is not being able to buy alcohol. Maturity is not being able to buy cigarettes. Maturity is not being able to drive. Sad to say... but maturity is not knowledge.
