Action research is considered to be an apprehension among forces which leads to personal, social and professional change. The article “Chaos in the Classroom: Center Learning in a 1st Grade Setting” by Lanaux, Vice & Fasching-Varner, (2014) applies action research in its attempt to improve school experience. The author’s state their focus in the introduction giving readers an understanding of the paper findings. The primary focus of the article is identifying the role center learning has among first-grade children. Through a professional practice on the basis of deep inquiry and research questions the authors provide a clear report. The authors have collected data in their study which is later analyzed and expounded using theories to ensure the conclusion given is credible.
The research used an action research method to make the teachers habitual and force them to continue their routine to get improvement in their teaching practices. As the method continues the teachers become more comfortable, and they find themselves in the center working environment with students from diverse backgrounds (Lanaux, Vice & Fasching-Varner, 2014). For instance, teachers planning and being organized led to success in center learning. The students were enjoying learning in an exploratory fashion with center time. The student’s communication, the interaction was enhanced. Consequently, social skills were improved. Data was collected in an efficient manner such as observation through filming and interviews.
