In the article “Colleges Should Adopt Trigger Warnings” by Brianne Richson, her key idea is addressing why altogether colleges should implement trigger warnings; for all scholars who have agonized from traumatic past events also known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The reason for this is to aid alert scholars on any course material that may remind them of a horrendous past event. A verification of that is Richson starts off her essay by stating “We all have that memory that we’d prefer people not bring up because we want to block it from our consciousness forever.” (“Richson 97”). She tells us how we all have memories that we wish would be obliterated, that’s why trigger warnings exist and why they should be in all colleges.
Richson’s point of view is very solid towards obtaining a safer environment for all scholars in colleges. As shown in the quote stated above: she starts off her article by mutually connecting with her audience saying we all have that reminiscence we would love to be free of. Not just any memory but one that has wedged with us for weeks, months and even years. Another argument she states, “Is it too much to ask that a rape survivor be forewarned when a professor is about to cover material” (“Richson 97”). …show more content…

I do approve on what her father had to say about this generation “every kid gets a trophy” (“Richson 97”). This generation has become so easy-going, expecting prizes, help, and for someone to hold their hand through the whole development. To expect every college to input trigger warnings just so they know what is ahead is irrational! Yes, it may only take a second to add in but what is that showing the students in life? Nothing, you never know what’s coming towards you whether its welcoming or lethal philosophies. Students won’t always have the safety net as long as freedom of speech
