In the article called “Generation Me on Trial”, Jean Twenge talks about the lack of empathy the millennial generation has compared to the earlier generations. Because of the lack of empathy, Twenge refers to the millennial generation as “Generation Me”. She stated that there was a case involving a young man named Dharun who watched his male roommate, Tyler had sexual intercourse with another male. Dharun was not the only one watching; his friends were watching as well. Tyler committed suicide the next day because of the incident. This was one of the examples Twenge used to make her point. Dharun and his friends did not show any empathy in this situation and they do not blame their selves for what happened.
