Reading this poem, it takes you’re from the start of a person who is trying to figure out what is wrong with them and what these symptoms are, but unsure what to do next, right through to living day to day with Diabetes. It's quite a moving poem and demonstrates the struggles diabetics live with, and speak out about, as it quite a silent one. What is the implicit meaning to this text. The implicit meaning on this poem is that people can go on living with out knowing they have diabetes as the general symptoms could go ignored and think your just tired, thirsty and not looking after yourself, due to that and the fact people are put off with going to the doctors with the notion of being an inconvenience. It also implies that if you don’t pay for your prescription then your fate maybe pricey, in other words it will cost your life. The poem also states having to pay so much to keep yourself living isn’t a priority or cared about . The poet is hopeful that because there have been so many advances in medicine and technology then why can’t they make something that will help or cure. If we don’t change our diets, we will become overweight and depriving our bodies with nutrients we need to run effectively. This piece of text is full of information that is explicit and to the point, including what we need to do in order to adapt our lifestyles. Its factual about what our cells do and how we need to work on diets in order for our bodies to make new cells and to get rid of the old.
