As O’Brien analyzes this transition it can seem as though the modern Justices are just trying to put their work off on other people. However, this just merely scratches the surface of what’s actually going on. The growing importance of law clerks over time not only reflects the growth and expansion of the United States as a whole but also shifts in how our society functions. As a result, the Court has had to take on more responsibility, while also changing the way they approach their jobs. There is no doubt that the Supreme Court has become more institutionalized since its founding, due its growing caseload.
Alex Frost Values: Law & Society 9/23/2014 The Hollow Hope Introduction and Chapter 1 Gerald Rosenberg begins his book by posing the questions he will attempt to answer for the reader throughout the rest of the text: Under what conditions do courts produce political and social change? And how effective have the courts been in producing social change under such past decisions as Roe v. Wade and Brown v. Board of Education? He then works to define some of the principles and view points 'currently' held about the US Supreme court system.
There are also no juries or witnesses and it involves only lawyers from both sides that argue the law and answer any questions the judges may have. There are seven judges at this level or one Chief Justice and six judges on the panel. The Chief Justice is elected by the court?s sitting judges and is elected a two-year term. Cases can be appealed to the Supreme Court that were heard in the Circuit Courts or the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court can override those courts decisions. The Supreme Court?s role is to guarantee a firm and reasonable judicial system and is the final arbitrator in disagreements that involve the state?s constitution and laws.
The nomination process seemed like revenge from both parties. That is a sad reality since these decisions might have a long-term impact on American politics and daily life. The FRONTLINE documentary "Supreme Revenge" follows the Republican and Democratic parties' protracted struggle to dominate the Supreme Court. To provide light on the events that took place behind the scenes, the producer has included fragments from conversations with legal professionals, writers, journalists, and workers from Congress and the White House.

John Adams attempted to fulfill the many roles of a President during 1797 through 1801 as a way to maintain a stable government and to help the nation prosper as a whole. After the XYZ affair and the Alien and Sedation Acts, the tension between France and the United States continued to increase as well as the possibility of war between the two. Since the threat from France continued to be present, he authorized the establishment of an army and navy to fight in the "unofficial war", the Quasi War, while he searched for another method to end the conflict with a peaceful resolution. Due to the distinct ideas of how to deal with France, Adams soon split from Hamilton and, to the surprise of many, announced the Treaty of Mortefontance on February
Conflict with the Courts falls under the AP theme: Politics and Power. Madison’s midnight appointed judges did not have the chance to be given their commission letters and future judge Marbury called upon the Supreme Court to force Secretary Madison to give over his commission. Their legendary decision to not force an executive official to act was a win for the current administration because it kept more Federalists from gaining power in the judiciary system. Their overturning of Congress’s Judiciary Act of 1789 as unconstitutional was of more significance than their lack of action in commanding Madison to deliver letters. The Supreme Court overturning the Judiciary Act was caused by their realization that the judiciary branch should not have
