“Reapers” Analysis In “Reapers” by Jean Toomer how destructive humans can be when it comes to nature is portrayed. The quote, “Black horses drive a mower through the weeds,” (line 5) shows that humans use animals to do labor that can be done easily without the help of animals if they put a little more effort into it. Animals are forced to do countless hours of harsh and grueling work, simply because mankind is too lazy. Horses are assisting people in building more and more cities and making farms even more gigantic in size, while taking over habitats full of multifarious groups of animals.
