Today in this individual oral, I will explore the global issue of culture, but more specifically, the idea of how the alienation of indigenous people in the modern world. To do this will be looking at two texts examining this concept. In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, at the top, there is self-actualization, and all humans are born into a family. Even from the start, we belong somewhere in society, and every family has a heritage. If this bond between our heritage or family has broken, the person will feel isolated and fearful in society. This situation is relatable in the past and right now for minorities. From the texts that I chose, it can be seen that this global issue is transnational. He mainly draws on Aboriginals, which are the indigenous society in Australia. In this oral, I will explore how the two texts present the idea of the alienation of indigenous people in the modern world.

Starting with my extract, the poem “Remember” by Joy Harjo explores the idea of alienation due to cultural abandonment. The poem is a call for a return to culture and heritage. Throughout the poem, Harjo uses anaphora by repeating the word Remember. By that, she creates a sense of urgency, a memory call, and a call for return for the people who abandoned their culture. Also, the word remember said in an imperative structure to emphsize the significance of this call and to demonstrate how urgent the situation is. She helps the native american people to remember their culture by using cultural symbols, as in the first three lines. Harjo uses symbols such as the sky, star, moon, and sun, which have importance for the native american people because these symbols are part of nature, also, in between the lines 14-15. She displayed
