Book Review: Meet You in Hell In Meet You in Hell by Les Standiford, he describes the partnership between Andrew Carnegie and Henry Clay Frick and how they made significant advances in the industry that is now known as the Gilded Age. They both started from the bottom and worked their way up to the top being successful with Carnegie Steel, the largest steel company at the time. Upon arriving to the United States from Scotland, Carnegie held multiple heavy duty and low cost jobs and eventually ended up working for a railroad business. That is how he advanced and learned about business.

Not everyone is lucky in this world with great parents to care for them. People may not always know how great their parents are and take them for granted. A good parent is someone who will you whenever you need them and will love you no matter the situation. Parents may not always agree with your actions or words but they will love you unconditionally through any bad choice you make. For instance, imagine if you were to become something in life that was a horrible decision like being a thief and all you ever did was for your convenience and never seemed to do one good action.
The poem works by somatically describing an event in the speaker's youth, and through its use of varying prosody and line breaks generates both the sense of an overwhelming torrent of particular details and of a simple clear affirmation that an event happened. The event, however, remains largely unfulfilled and it is this lack of fulfilment on behalf of the speaker which leads to the direct sense that the poem is both a song of celebration and a lamentation for unfulfilled potential happiness. This particular poem is about parents that have no idea what's going on in their kid's daily life and what they go through. With this type of action, the parents act as if all is good and make little to no effort to get involved in their day to day activities. This shows the kid that the parent does not care or seems like it. The kid will be influenced to do things they normally wouldn't do. If the parent would at least make an attempt to get involved, it may influence them for the better but until then it will not happen.
“Hell on Earth: A Puritan Woman’s Experience with the Natives” “[A] lively resemblance of hell”—this is how Mary Rowlandson describes her first night of captivity by the Wampanoag Indians. This kind of description leads her contemporaries to view the Native Americans near English settlements as barbaric, immoral beasts. “A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson” was written around 1676. The narrative discusses her eleven-week captivity from Lancaster by the Wampanoag Indians. At this time, the Indians were laying siege on colonial towns as part of “King Phillip’s War” (Rowlandson 257).
But when I decided to reach out and tell them about my struggles, they showed a new side that I never knew and it overflowed with love and care for my life. It made me fall in love with my life again and my relationships with my family flourished. My mom made the most significant impact on me. For example, from the night I attempted to end my life, she would lie with me at night until I fell asleep just to make sure I am okay and that I get to rest. This is the most important environmental change for me because before this event in my life, my mother and I didn’t have a very good relationship and we would clash and never talk to each other.
Just those things alone have made them into very inspirational people to some. In fact, they may be the greatest inspiration of all time, a true definition of child looking up to his parents. Right away, both of my parents had high expectations for me. At a young age college was instilled in me as the only possible route I could take; which was okay because as an adolescent I held great pride that both my parents went to college.

The poem really expresses how one mother values her son, and tells you how kids grow up to fast and she believes that her little boy cannot handle the challenges life throws at you. At the end of poem, the mom is surprised that her son learns to get out of the chains and get past the challenges he has been through. Families will always have a strong bond and it can never be broken, no matter what life throws at your family, you will always get though it and find new ways to make your relationship even stronger. Later in life as the kids get older, they learn that their mom will not always be there for you, so they start to get close with their mom and they realize all the wonderful things your mom did for you.
There are many poems that discuss the relationship between a poet and their parents. The poets Andrew Hudgins and Dylan Thomas were in their late 30s when they wrote poems about their fathers. Thomas ' father was ill during the time that he wrote the poem. It is unknown if Hudgin 's father was ill during writing of his poem (Kirszner & Mandell 890-891). Andrew Hudgin 's poem, “Elegy for My Father, Who is Not Dead,” and Dylan Thomas ' poem, “Do not go gentle into that good night,” explore their feelings of their fathers ' imminent deaths.
Hanging Fire by Audre Lorde, I figured I’d pick this one since I can relate, this particular poem I found revolving several issues that the teenager is confronted with throughout the poem which by my understanding also affect most teenagers worldwide. The preconception of death, as well as problems of living in a sexist society with the addition of fear of isolation inside the home. My thought within this poem swayed to the idea that the teenager was engrossed with dying as noticed as she complains about dying before morning and other places within the poem. Sexism was also touched upon as noticed too when the young teenager wasn’t placed on “Math Team” despite the fact that her grades were much better than of the male who was chosen instead,
If I knew then all that my parents did for me I would have been more appreciative growing up. Thank you, mom and dad I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the both of you.
