The story Song of the Buffalo Boy by Sherry Garland takes place in Vietnam after the Vietnam War. At this time, there were many half American and half Vietnamese children. Many of these children were treated differently because Americans were hated by many. They had done many things such as releasing a type of gas they caused things such as birth defects, diseases and worst of all, death. Loi, the main character, was one of these children. A theme that is prevalent throughout the story is to accept who you are and not let other people’s opinions change you.
