In the article “Liking Is for Cowards, Go for What Hurts,” the author, Jonathan Franzen, states that people who praise technology have been blind with the love of social media , which prevent them to have a real love. Franzen believes ,”the technology that we own has become a perfect dream relationship”. The technology that Franzen describes is similar to a perfect partner that a human could have; the technology gives enormous type of functions that user wants. Nowadays, younger generations has proven that this type of relationship does exist by more believing in information given in the virtual world, such as less newspaper reading. Moreover, there is a sign of dedication that younger people do to show t affection they have towards technology. No matter what time it is, they are continuously checking their social media feed hoping someone could comment their social media. This is the sign of commitment that the users of social media have. They are trying to know what is their contribution to keep up with the things that happening throughout the internet. In addition, to maintain their status in the social media, people have to put up a contribution that they have to show to the people who followed them, such as photos, comments, or anything that matters to them. iFor example, there are many celebrities who use Snapchat or Instagram to share their activities to their fans by spending hours to take pictures and videos, and uploading it. . If a person has achieved his social status to have a numerous amount of followers through social media, he tend to maintain his followers by doing the things that make his famous or changing their lifestyle. For example, here is an Indonesian artist named Awkarin that was famous because of his video about her boyfriend dumped her. The video was a dialogue between Awkarin with her friend talking about her ex boyfriend’s wrongdoings what did he do. Her video posting results in receiving a lot followers in instagram and making money out of it through endorsement deals. To maintain and increase her followers, Awkarin has to keep posting videos and photos on her social media with controversial topics.. Comparing with her life before the controversial video, Awkarin was known to be a good girl who went to a parochial school in Indonesia. Quickly after the video posting, she posted her clubbing videos more often and shout cursed words in most of her Snapchat video. .
