Being a survivor of the bombing of Hiroshima is not something that every person can say. Magnificently, six people in the book Hiroshima, by John Hersey, managed to survive the bombing. Giving readers many details about the moments of the bombing, these characters were very brave and truly astonishing. Explaining how the who was the closest, the noiseless flash, and the ruins afterward, were all told by these people, and the extreme circumstances of the aftermath that they had to push through in order to survive. The survivors of the book were all in a small distance from the blast and they explain the events that happen following the bomb explosion. Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto, Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, Makoto Takakura, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki were the survivors. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura was the closest to the bombing raising three children. The furthest away was Kiyoshi Tanimoto, and was a pastor at a church. Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, was very young and was a doctor to help provide better healthcare for the less fortunate. Dr. Fujii had his own small hospital with decent room and nicer rooms. Tanimoto was taking brace by his wall and felt the small pieces of wood pelt his skin and his home caving in. Toshiko was working when a flash filled the office to wear you couldn't see because it was so bright. Fujii saw the light then, soon afterward, fell into water. He explains it by the light being a ¨brilliant yellow¨ before he fell in. Nakamura was tending to her children when she was abruptly knocked down and covered in dirt and debris. She explains it by, ¨whiter than any white¨, she said seen before, almost unreal. Dr. Sasaki was the only unhurt doctor in his building and saw the light also which soon after that, his glasses were swooped
