Richard Connell presents the protagonist Sanger Rainsford with this choice. Rainsford a big game hunter who is heading into the treacherous amazon, falls overboard nevertheless ends up on an island known as Shipwreck island where he meets a distinguished looking man known as General Zaroff. Unfortunately General Zaroff hunts moreover kills humans for sport. Rainsford, the prey, now consequently is going to die. The journey towards the amazon reveals an attribute of Sanger Rainsford, he is a secular man. Concerns that an assistant expresses while they approach a supposedly cursed, Rainsford conversely calls this foolish then undermines it as nonsense. At one point during the exposition Rainsford states that there is no such thing as a curse accordingly says “Pure imagination, one superstitious sailor can taint the whole ship’s company with fear” (Connell 41).
