Paul E. Johnson and Sean Wilentz’s book, The Kingdom of Matthias, is a story of a religious cult that is formed in response to the changing economic, religious, and social roles in society in the 1820s and 1830s. Johnson and Wilentz discovered the story of Matthias and his Kingdom at different times, but both found the story to be an interesting one to write together. Throughout their research, they found that the information they found presented itself perfectly as a historical narrative, especially the form of a stage play . After merging their differing writing styles, they were able to write a book that they think did a relatively small story in American history justice. Many other small sects of religious reform happened during this time

Fortunately, for Odysseus, Athena was there to guide him through a few of these troubling situations.

Many stories in Greek mythology show friendships and arguments. Poseidon and Athena’s contest for Athens illustrate the Greek themes and ideals of rivalry and alliance. Many stories support this statement. Kronos and Zeus’ rivalry is a great example as well as Poseidon and Athena. The Trojan War and some of the gods is a great example of a team up.
In the poem The Odyssey, there are gods and mortals alike, where they have their typical relationships. The typical relationships that the gods and the humans/mortals have is the give and receive relationship, meaning the humans give offers and/or sacrifices and the gods receive those offers and sacrifices. In addition, to those simple relations there are also ones of the complex variety. Most of the complex relations have to deal around Odysseus since he is the main character to the poem. Greek mythology by David Stuttard. ““Drawing lots with his brothers, Hades and Poseidon, to see who should rule each of creation’s three zones – the land (together with the heavens); the sea; and the Underworld (of Hades) – Zeus won the earth and sky. Enthroned on the ridge of Mount Olympus, which is today called Stefani, and holding in his right hand a golden sceptre, he ruled both gods and men. A passage from the Iliad, said to have inspired his celebrated statue at Olympia, describes the sheer power of his presence: ‘Zeus, the son of Cronus, spoke, and he inclined his head with his dark brows, and the mighty king’s hair, anointed with ambrosial oil, fell forward from his immortal head. And great Olympus trembled.’
