Sexual Assault has always been a difficult topic to talk about, but if we do, it can help solve a substantial issue. Most teens, on average, don’t speak up about their sexual assault experiences. There are a number of reasons why this is, a fear of not being believed, or of everyone hating them definitely weighs on them. This causes other problems such as PTSD, anxiety, depression and many more. This can make a teen never trust anyone again, speaking out about their experiences can help heal, and make sure who did it doesn’t run free. However, to do this we need to raise awareness and speak out about it ourselves so teens and many others will feel they can reach out too. It deep dives into her life on how she lived after the incident and how it changed her so much. By the end of the book, she spoke out about her experience and got help and is doing so much better than at the beginning of the book.“It is easier not to say anything. Shut your trap, button your lip, can it. All that crap you hear on TV about communication and expressing feelings is a lie. Nobody really wants to hear what you have to say.” (Anderson, 9). She is saying how much easier it is to stay quiet, than speak out and get help. This can help young teens and so many people realize the situation they could be in and reach out for help. This is exceptional for young adults and teens because a great deal of people in this age group read in their free time, or for school. When seeing a movement in action, it can make people want to join. Volunteering, giving money to charities, or joining protests and walks help this subject of sexual assault. #MeToo is a movement in which it campaigns against sexual assault, harrasment, abuse, and rape culture. This organization has helped many get the word out on this tough subject. By joining the #MeToo movement, it helps other people speak out on their own experiences, and your own. "If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote "me too" as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.” (Milano). If doing what this person suggests, so many people will have spoken out and many more will too. This can help the awareness of this subject
