Ruth was a heroism and a brave woman who was the greatgrand mother of King David, an ancestor of Jesus. She was so loyal that, when her husband died, she remained with mother-in-law (Naomi), even though she didn’t have to. The central message of her story is showing the importance of loyalty to fellow human beings, which would make the world a better place.
The story of took place during the time of the Judges. It was during this time where the people form Israel and Moab were trying to bring peace between their people. According to the NIV Study Bible Zondervan which states,” The original onslaught of the invading Israelite tribes against towns that were once Moabite had never been forgotten or forgiven, while the Hebrew prophets denounced Moab’s pride and arrogance for trying to bewitch, seduce and oppress Israel from the time of Balaam.” (Ruth 1:7 pg. 395). The same thing goes for the man that if his wife were to die without having kids, it was tradition that he marries another to continue his family dynasty. According to the Zondervan Hand Book of the Bible 4th Edition which states, “Under the evirate law (referred to by Naomi in 1:11-13), when a man died childless his brother was bound to raise an heir to him by the widow, (pg. 252). This trying to tell us that during that time of year it was impossible for a person to single after they have reached certain age. It also shows that during that time, having kids was a way of showing love to your husband and his families.
