Author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson. Where did Thomas Jefferson acquire all the information needed to later make the Declaration of Independence all fully developed. Jefferson before he died explained that he only explained the American mind and did not use one source in particular to make the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson changed the United States politically, socially, and economically. From the Louisiana Purchase, naturalization laws, expeditions, Tax and debt reduction, and to the hated Embargo acts.
The Louisiana Purchase was one of the greatest achievements that Jefferson ever accomplished. The territory was bought from Napoleon Bonaparte for political reasons. Bonaparte was in need for money. Jefferson took off all internal taxes which included the tax on whiskey and on land. Jefferson also reduced national debt which was around 85 million dollars. The embargo act of 1807 was an act passed by congress to protest British and French interference with American shipping throughout the Napoleonic wars according to Houghton Mifflin. Each side whether British or French or any other place tried to block each others trade blocking one another even though war created high demands for many resources and goods. Jefferson had made small and cheap gun boats that were intended to guard the coast.
