Analyzing Linda Sanchez's Reversal Conduct

“Reversal Conduct” painted by Linda Sanchez identifies a life verses the fictional idea where every family lives perfectly. The elements of the scene used produces the perfect setting of a monstrous secret. Although, hope exists hidden in what is the sinister motion of it all, the colors bring about a dark, twisted truth of a family who struggles with a secret – perhaps a secret buried deeply in the family, one that eventually tears it apart.
The secret which destroys the family involves one of physical and mental struggle. Sanchez’s setting perfectly describes what the aftermath of a struggle in a room looks like. The wood embodies marks on it showing a struggle. She uses these elements of clothes thrown on the floor, a broken mirror and a lamp laying on the floor to signify the struggle. The clothes and suitcase shows the mother in a hurry getting ready to leave. The mother sits on the ground holding her two children, we can hear the sobs coming from them. Looking behind the half closed door, stands the one whom has committed the crime. Grabbing tightly onto a girls arm, we can hear the crack of bones.

In “Reversal Conduct” Sanchez paints a shadow of an angel whom stance presents protection around the women and the children. The angel creates hope enveloped towards the family. Hope they will one day elude their tormented past. One would not except hope to be in the painting, but hope exists there for that reason. The overall theme of hope in the painting is similar to the character that provides relief in a story by saving the day. The angle being there allows everyone to turn away from a horrid scene. Hope in a time of horror creates the viewers emotions to be mixed up and open the door to feeling several different feelings at once explains the artist’s goal for painting a scene of paradox
