Andrew Jackson in “On Indian Removal” uses diction as an uplifting tone. He talks on Indian removal as a great thing for white people when he states, “in relation to the removal of the Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching to a happy consummation.” So the way this creates a uplifting tone is because he states that with the indian removal the whites agree and it would make a happy conclusion. Another thing that Andrew Jackson says is,”It gives me pleasure to announce to Congress that the benevolent policy of the Government” This gives another uplifting tone with “gives me pleasure”. This is important because he gives this bright happy tone when he is talking about a disgusting thing on removing Indians.
“The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson, a dramatic and suspenseful short story about a small town that has a strange ritual. The town pulls out papers out of a box, if you pull out a paper with a mark, you are stoned to death. The town is split on whether the lottery should take place or not. Instead of watching others while they are causing harm to people, take action to make sure it does not happen again. Unless the people who disagree with the lottery rebel, they might never be able to overcome this horrible circumstance.

This ultimately serves as a warning to the reality of the modern society as handicaps exist, and the intentions of it could be expanded by technology to the extent where it restrains one’s ability. Although they did not want to leave their land, they had to because of President Jackson. The Indians should not have been forced off their land. President Jackson did not treat the Indians fairly, the land belonged to the Indians, and the Indians rights were being violated.
Likewise, to be handicapped is to be special, but for Harrison to be seen as under handicapped is that he is underestimated for his true”dangers’ and what he is truly capable of. His transgression is also unique and rare to a society of all equalism and therefore is also restrained by the government to reach his true potential. She wanted a woman’s perspective and she thought she was obliged to write it because she was well educated for a black woman during the times of slavery. In the world right now, there is still inequality for all. People are criticized everyday because of how they look, speak, dress, act, etc. In America, although there is people that are changing, there with always be that small group of people that won’t change their views on what they believe is right and wrong in our society. You can also see this in the book, To Kill A Mockingbird, written by author, Harper Lee. All throughout the novel, you can see how white people are superior to the African Americans that live in the same town.
In Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird, undoubtedly there is more than one type of discrimination displayed. Before we get into that, what exactly is discrimination? Well, to discriminate means to treat someone differently based on what they believe, their age, gender, who they love, even their appearance.
