Analyzing William Fulbright's The Arrogance Of Power

William Fulbright wrote the article chosen for critical evaluation and he composed “The Arrogance of Power”. This article has been read and reviewed to determine if his argument and or statements are valid and truthful. Granted his work was composed and intended during the Vietnamese war, the message he was trying to convey can still be applied to our time. Upon reading his work, it would be sound to say the structure is well written. The author laid out his points in a logical manner. The author utilized certain tactics such as ethos, pathos and logos to help convey his message as well and this essay will demonstrate them. Senator Fulbright had a powerful message and he recognizes that our nation like others is powerful. This riot was initiated by the very people our nation was trying to assist which lead to an overwhelming concern. Similar to the situation then, our nation still suffers the same fate and scrutiny today. The presence our government sustains in other nations causes a level of friction (Nacos 32). This friction or disagreements even though they may be insignificant will eventually amount to something that can no longer be tolerated and tarnish the very view the host nation once had. The author is stating that as a nation, our views should not always be their views. Some nations are content with their form of government and maybe they are just ultimately afraid of change.
