The people of Ancient Greece enjoyed going to the theatre and watching plays as much as they enjoyed architectural buildings and Greek culture. Art was a part of Ancient Greeces culture. Sculptures and paintings were the main forms of art that were very well known. These topics are what make up Ancient Greece. Art and Theatre are the center of Ancient Greek Culture and Society. Types of plays, artists, and well known paintings often influence Greeks culture today. Some types of plays to watch include comedy, satyr, and tragedy. All of these actors would be men or boys. Some types of fabrics they liked to use were wool and imported linen. These fabrics were used to make chiltons, tunic made for men from a linen material, peplos, a type of tunic worn by women usually made from heavy wool, and himations, are cloaks used for warmth usually made from wool. These cloaks were often used by Spartans. Spartan boys or military boys, had to leave their homes at age seven to undergo severe course training. Boys that left for training often got sent to military school at ages 6 and 7. In Sparta girls went to school from age 6 or 7 to the age of 18. At age 18 they were required to take a skills and fitness test. If a girl passes this test she will be assigned a husband and return home. If a girl failed the test, she would lose her rights as a citizen and became a member of the middle class. Athenian society was divided among four main social classes. This includes the upper class, middle class or metics, freedman or commoners, and slaves. Upper class consisted of people born to Athenian parents, these people were rich and powerful. Middle class or metics were foreigners and received less benefits than upper class. Below the middle class was freedman or commoners, these people consisted of former slaves that have won their freedom back. The bottom class is slaves, slaves were often prisoners of
