There are many chemists that have a difference in the world. All of them did different things to help develop certain areas in our studies. However, out of all of the famous Chemists, Anders Celsius is an important figure to reflect on. Anders Celsius was born to a Lutheran family on November 27, 1701, in Uppsala, Sweden (“Anders Celsius.” Famous). He was born from his mother, Gunilla Celsius, a daughter of a famous scientist. His father was Nils Celsius, who was an astronomy professor, as well as his grandfather, Magnus Celsius. They both were professors at Uppsala, a university in Sweden (“Anders Celsius”(1701 –1744)). He was around influences for what he is known for doing. By his influences in his family, Anders’ future started in childhood. Anders Celsius was known for amazing talent in school (10). He was interested in science, as well as math, classes and studies. …show more content…
He was skilled in his work and he was a talent in the mathematical and scientific fields. He was also known for his publication of “Nova Methodus distantiam solis a terra determinandi,” or in English, “New Method for Determining the Distance from the Earth to the Sun (10).” He was an astronomical genius as well as scientific, publishing as well his 316 observations of the Aurora Borealis (10). In these studies, he was able to explain how the northern lights affected the compass and its mechanics (“Anders Celsius” Tekniska). During his days of study after his schooling was finished, he worked on different projects and went on different expeditions in order to make discoveries of the scientific side of the world. In one of his elaborate missions came an idea to make a modern observatory (“Anders Celsius” Famous). Finally, in 1741, Celsius founded the Uppsala Astronomical Observatory (10). This very observatory became the birthplace of the Celsius scale in 1742
