In 2007, shortly before the greatest financial collapse in modern history, a crime took place. this was no ordinary crime, nor was it committed by an ordinary criminal. In fact, this event was to become the first murder that didn't even take place on planet Earth. Let me explain. In an effort to mark the millennium, four nations banded together, their goal to send the first manned mission to planet the planet Mars. As many of you are aware, Mars is 140 million miles away from Earth. To put this is perspective, the Moon is 239,000 miles away from Earth. A cold, dark, unforgiving journey through space awaited those who attempted to go there. Preparations for the journey were highly secretive. Each participating country had chosen …show more content…

Andrea held several advanced degrees in biology and space science. She is constantly inventing new ways to conserve and create energy. And finally, Mission Specialist from Japan, Professor Aidan Hashimoto, the team leader. He pioneered advanced thinking into modern String Theory. These four have each spent thousands of hours training independently in their own countries and this gathering is their first meeting. "3, 2, 1, lift off!" Mission control stated. None of the four really trusted each other, but later they would really have to. Once they were in space and out of Earth's orbit, the ship's computer/captain, Chip, instructed the four to go to sleep in industrial metal beds called Cryotheyem Space Sleep, or C.S.S. "Lying in these beds puts you in a suitable environment for traveling for long periods of time without having to eat or drink anything. The machine puts you in a state of hibernation, as the gasses and right temperature make your metabolism low. You also use little to no calories per day of sleep, and your heart beats every 3 minutes. But enough of that, time to introduce my self! I am Chip, this ship's computer and driver. I will watch over and navigate the ship …show more content…

It eventually landed in the "dangerous" zone. Immediately, Orlov was bombarded with questions. "You are a robot?" Renee asked. "Yes, I was built and programed to prevent Chip from colonizing Mars." "However, we have to act fast, the poison in your blood has gotten a lot worse then since the time I had woken you guys up. the poison was designed to kill you slowly so you could not contact Earth for help if it had immediate effects." Orlov said "But we really have to get moving, Chip is not awake, he is recharging for the colonization process. So lets go!" The four walked quietly and quickly down the hallways and corridors to the power generators to find Chip, his optical eye "asleep" and his sensors off. "You three stay here" Orlov said. And he attempted to run over to Chip's brain and take over the ship. However, when he was halfway there, he noticed lights on the back of Chip blinking on and off, and he slowly looked above him. A wall of spikes lay above Orlov's head, ready to crush him. He ran out of the way right as they fell, and suddenly, Chip came bursting into life. He screamed at the invaders. "So! you found me! I am going to colonize this planet whether you like it or not! There is nothing you can do about
