When it comes to Andrew Jackson’s time as president, there are differing opinions. I believe he did not do a good job during his time as president, even though his popularity grew significantly. Andrew Jackson’s presidency was not so good because of his treatment of Native Americans, and the two major problems which were the nullification crisis and bank war. Andrew Jackson’s treatment of Native Americans during his presidency was undeniably harmful and unfair. His policies, such as the Indian Removal Act of 1830, forcibly relocated thousands of Native Americans from their ancestral lands, leading to vast suffering and loss of life. The forced removals, like the Trails of Tears, demonstrated a disregard for the rights and well-being of Native American communities. In the nullification crisis, Jackson disagreed with South Carolina over their attempt to nullify federal tariffs. Instead of trying to work things out together, he decided to make things harder and worse instead of finding a peaceful resolution. Additionally, his decision to disband the Second Bank of the United States during the bank war caused economic instability. Jackson was furious with the Southerners, however he did not back down.
