His father, the widely known Cuban pianist, composer, and bandleader Arturo O’Farrill, has all the reasons to be proud of a son who, at the age of 21, has collaborated with Rudresh Mahanthappa, Vijay Iyer, Ambrose Akinmusire, Joe Lovano, and more recently Stephan Crump’s Rhombal. For this recording, Adam had the company of his brother Zack on drums, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown on tenor saxophone, and Walter Stinson on bass. Moses Hogan is an American composer and arranger of choral music. He was best known for his African-American spirituals. Hogan was a pianist, conductor and arranger of international renown. His choral works are performed by high school, college, church, community, and professional choirs today. His most famous work is The Oxford Book of Spirituals.

‘Be Music, Night’ by Kenneth Patchen is an intriguing piece of literary art. A picture is painted of human interaction with Earth immediately. The manner in which humans fall into her beauty and vastness is apparent in even the first lines of Patchen’s poem, but why is this important? “Be music, night, That her sleep may go Where angels have their pale tall choirs” This choir is brought on by our musical mother nature.

You can easily relate “Creep” by Radiohead to Holden Caulfield and his pessimistic attitude towards everything and everybody in the book. Wherever Holden goes, he constantly refers to people as “phonies”, without even speaking a word to them. He is very critical and hold high standards for not only other individuals, but of himself as well. His low self-esteem is quite apparent from all the negative comments he makes throughout the text. In my honest opinion, I think Holden puts others down as a way to make himself feel better about the bad in his own life.
Andrew Lloyd Webber has become a household name throughout the entire world. Not only do people flock to see his shows, but the pure fact that people outside of the theatre world know the composer of certain musicals is an accomplishment in itself. He has changed the musical theatre world. Some call him a “Broadway master” because his musical Phantom of the Opera surpassed his own record for the musical Cats to now hold the record for the longest running musical on Broadway as well as London’s West End ( Snelson 1).

However, in Germany, he is astonished when he hears a performer who is a "trained" black musician, one that is able to combine many characteristics of many types of music, innovating his own style. When I first heard “When I Was Your Man,” the only thing that went through my mind were regrets as I remember how some of my relationships were in the past. Each and every time that I play the song, my opinions won’t change. According to Mark Knapp’s theory, there were ten stages of a relationship. The stages are initiating, experimenting, intensifying, integrating, bonding, differentiating, circumscribing, stagnating, avoiding, and terminating. Whenever the song get to the part, “Oh and it haunts me every time I close my eyes,” I can definitely remember some of these stages as they seem to haunt me each time I listen to this
He created several love songs for the world to hear. To everyone, love songs may sound like cheesy music, but these songs are written by writers to spread an optimistic mood to the whole world. Young showed his loving characteristic by sharing music that would not only spread happy feelings, but also a message to love the ones around that support and boost their friends higher. Love songs can also make people reflect about their lives and consider what they are doing and how they could fix their behaviours to create a more suitable environment for the ones around them. She published a poem named “Song” in 1993 to show her compassion to her lover. The poem consists of 3 stanzas whereby each stanza is contains 3 lines. The poem is written about a woman’s love relationship towards with a man.
When the man arrives at home from the hospital, he begins to remember that “this is his house” (Cherry 15). In the poem, “Alzheimer’s,” Kelly Cherry expresses the confusions and difficulties a man with dementia struggles with in life. The poem explores the chaos of the man who comes home from the hospital and his conflicts with his memory loss. The speaker is close to the man and is frustrated with him at the beginning of the poem, but the speaker’s feeling toward the man eventually shifts to sadness. Caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease can be painful and heartbreaking, though people need to understand that familiar circumstances and with family support can help the patients whose mind is gradually changing.
It’s a perfect night for a concert, warm, calm, and overall elegant. On Friday, September 11 in the Nightingale Concert Hall, a fabulously performed concert called the Argenta Concert Series, The Fifth Anniversary Season, directed by Dmitri Atapine and Hyeyeon Park, took place. In this performance the following musicians performed; Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio on the violin, Dustin Budish on the viola, and James Winn on the piano. Not only that, there was also a guest appearance by Jonah Kim on the cello. Although not the best turnout, there was still a decent audience.
The song that I am going to analyze is “Control” by Halsey. The song is titled control because, the singer mentioned that she has bipolar disorder, and she feels the constant confusion and frustration of who is actually controlling her state of mind. In the song many things symbolize her state of mind, and how she sees it, which would be like a “deadly disease”. The important symbol that is used in this song is “I’m bigger than my body, I’m colder than this home”, meaning that she see’s herself as something that is better than what her body represents or shows, while the other part symbolizes how her other persona can be mean or cold to people. Simply maybe because sometimes she would feel confident, standing up to herself at times, but also when the other persona takes control, she becomes cold, filled with anxiety or maybe even depression and frustration.
