Anime and Manga are extremely unique forms of artistic expression which arose from years of cultural collaboration and blending between eastern and western cultures. Their creation is unique because never before in history has it been so easy to share ideas between cultures across the Pacific Ocean. Technological and communication advancements in the past 65 years have allowed for Anime and Manga to flourish as dynamic art forms unlike any other. Because the films are animated and not shot with a camera, all the transitions between scenes and camera angles of events in the film are able to be exquisitely calibrated. The result is an unparalleled level of artistic expression found in few other mediums. Anime films are able to have dynamic angles of interactions between characters that showcase multiple angles and aspects of any given scene. This enriches the film and makes it more interesting to watch. Some commonly used tactics in anime film include Mise-en-scene, Mise-en-Abyme, and Stitching. Mise-En-Scene, meaning setting on stage, focuses on the arrangement of props and characters in specific scenes of the film. Mise-En-Abyme, meaning placed into the abyss, is a technique used to create tension and mystery. A typical scene includes the repetition of an item forever like a long hallway or a room with two mirrors. They can also create a unique sense of global unity with other cultures that other art forms cannot.
