Anna, one of the miserable people under the King’s rule, was just like everyone else and couldn’t stand to live there anymore. Kammie, her sister, and Kathryn, her mom, had been listening to George Calvert in Maryland, one of the few southern colonies, and liked what he had to say. As a family, they made the decision to journey to Maryland, because of the representative government, strong economy, good climate, and especially the catholicism.

My personal memoir was written from the perspective of Anna Louw. I chose the scene in which she took Toby to the party. Speak, by Laurie Halse Anderson, is a novel that has been and continues to be used in classrooms throughout the country whether it is in middle school or high school. This novel discusses issues that adolescents face in high school, which can help prepare early adolescents for what they need to know. The novel portrays real challenges that adolescent’s face. It presents an honest, real portrayal of experiences that occur in adolescence.

Ever since I was young, I have always heard someone talking about Marquette. Part of this may be due to the fact that three of my neighbors have gone to Marquette and have absolutely loved it. Adding on to that, I have met even more people that have gone to Marquette that have really liked it and are usually successful in life. I met even more people at the Marquette open house that were from all over the United States and said they went to Marquette and they hope their child will attend Marquette as well. This made me realize that Marquette is truly local, since I know several people that have gone to Marquette that live by me and at the same time it is global, since I have met people around the United States, as well as other countries that
