The play took place during World War II because when the dictator, Adolf Hitler, was trying to take Jews to concentration camp, he thought that they were the reason that Germany lost World War I. The Frank’s reason why they went into hiding was because of that Margot, the Frank’s oldest daughter, had a call-up slip for her to be picked by the Nazis so she could be taken to a concentration camp.
