This article talks about how the media takes a big part of the cause of teen dating violence. Whether the media be social, television, or video games, people are exposed to violence at a young age. The article mentions how many of the teens get unrealistic ideas from the media that make them believe that all relationships and with the “perfect” ending, so when the teens become a victim of the violence, they are convinced that there is still hope for a better ending. Because of the belief that things will get better, many of the victims decide to stay in the unhealthy relationship because of the hope they get from the media. This hope leaves them with three different ways the relationship could end, either be literally beaten to death, continue to live life being a victim of violence, or accept the fact that things will not change, and move on. The article mentions that is a common belief that most violence in younger adults, or teens comes from the violence that is seen on media. Many of the people who do the violence, are people have been exposed to violence at a young age it; Whether it be the media, or their own household. This article by Rosen talks about how media and technology usage could cause anxieties and attitudes that could potentially be symptoms of either six personality disorder, or three types of mood disorders. The personality disorders that the author talks about are histrionic, schizoid, antisocial, paranoid, narcissistic, and compulsive. The three mood disorders include bipolar-mania, major depression, and dysthymia. In this article the author writes about an anonymous questionnaire that was taken by young teens and adults. The results showed that many of the people related Facebook, a social networking site (SNS), as being a major aspect of these disorders, later in this article it is stated that, Facebook does cause attitudes and anxieties that are possible symptoms of these disorders.
