The real tragic hero character is Antigone the reason being is because she does something against Creon’s law for what she believes is right. The law she is breaking is to bury her brother with the respect he deserves. She serves a role of showing courage, love, and leadership towards herself and others today. This is true because in the story she states these reasons why she is right and why she will stop at nothing to bury her brother.

In Antigone the tragic hero happens to be Creon because he has a tragic flaw or a hamaritara and heis nobility in the city of Thebes, however Antigone may also be considered a tragic hero. Creon is considered the tragic hero because of his tragic flaw of him being stubborn. When Haemon is trying to talk to Creon on letting Antigone go he questions, “So, men our age, we’re to be lectured, are we?-schooled by a boy his age?”

Antigone believes burying her brother is a sacred duty that must be carried out by her, so her brother may rest in peace. “I will bury him myself. And even if I die in the act, that death will be a glory” (Sophocles 85-86). Antigone’s loyalty to her her brother is so strong that she is willing to risk her own life to bury him. She believes it is her duty to complete the god’s laws and bury her brother, even if it means disobeying the king.
Consequently, Antigone was a good example to others, but not for the rest. Not only because she had the courage to go against the government, Antigone had the bravery to go against her uncle. Therefore her actions were honorable, because she was strong enough to be idolized by the people that wanted to do the right things, which they believed it was right. Furthermore, Antigone actions were reasonable, because all she wanted was to give everybody a “happy ending”, even though she did, she died making the souls of her brothers’ rest in peace in the way they wanted to. In addition, if Antigone ended up alive in the stories she could lead a revolutionary strike.
