How do we determine right from wrong? Determining right from wrong is interpreted differently for everyone, but often people have to choose what they believe is right and what the authority has to say in it. In the Colin Kaepernick article he makes a decision that he thinks is right and faces the consequences that were involved. In Antigone, she goes against the law to protect her brother despite what her uncle says, along with the punishment she receives. In the student protest article, the students go against the rules to show they have the right to wear what they want. In Antigone, the character is Antigone and she is loyal and independent. Her brother was considered to be a traitor and shouldn’t be buried she goes against the rule to bury him anyways because she thought it was right even though her brother did many wrong things. In the reading it states, “Polyneices sought to taste the blood he shared with us,and lead the rest of us to slavery. You shall leave him without burial, you shall watch him get chewed up by birds and dogs and violated. But he that is loyal to the state in death, in life alike, shall have my honor.” (Sophocles, n/a). Antigone knows her brother did wrong to her family, but she believed that burying him was the right choice. In the student protest article, the boys, whose names are unknown had a daring characteristic. They put on dresses and showed up to school knowing they are breaking the rule, but they were proving a point. In the article it states, “High school boys wearing dresses strike a pose with big smiles on their faces. They know they 're breaking school rules, but they hope their gender-defying outfits will spark change.” (Sorto, 1). The boys felt that putting on dresses and showing that nothing was wrong with it was the right remark in their situation, they took the risk of getting in trouble for not following the school law.
