If you ask someone who their biggest supporter is, they usually answer with “my mother.” Regularly, mothers tend to promote a critical but sincere and encouraging persona when it comes to their child by giving them the support and advice they need to grow as an individual. Similarly, in a letter to her son, Abigail Adams advises him to use his opportunities to his advantage to face his “difficulties” and “calamities” with strength and “great virtues” so that he may “bring honor to his country” and “add justice, fortitude, and every manly virtue” to his character to form one similar to “[a] hero’s and the statesman.” By employing pathos, historical allusions and a sincere tone, Adams reveals her purpose is to convince her son that difficulties in life are meant to be embraced in order to establish a strong and tested foundation of will along with adding to his character. She claims that in doing so, one will receive “wisdom and penetration[,] the fruit of [these] experience[s].”
The speaker Ayn Rand, was incredibly passionate throughout the entire commentary. She addresses the fundamental significance of Apollo 11, stating that it is not political; it is philosophical. The audience for this particular situation would be anyone who enjoys commentaries. This publication was created by Rand, for the sole purpose of putting forward her philosophy of objectivism. The subject of this commentary was to talk about mankind itself, and how Apollo 11 completely redefined what it means to be a human.
This mission proved that direct-ascent rendezvous was possible, which was before thought to be an unrealistic method of getting off the moon. The GATV craft on this mission functioned with greater success than on previous Gemini missions, allowing NASA to test the bounds of what is possible with these low orbit manned spacecraft. One of the greatest space mission is the third mission to land on the Moon, Apollo 13. The Apollo 13 mission to the moon may have been the most miraculous event in history. Not only were the astronauts able to make it through any obstacle they faced, but they used their intellect in every situation. After getting through all the phases of getting through space, such as releasing certain parts of the shuttle and preparing their landing craft, they realize something’s wrong. Their oxygen tanks exploded!
By the time millions of Americans were tuned in to watch Neil Armstrong take his first step on the moon, millions of dollars and scientists had been invested into the mission for a decade. The challenge given by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 began NASA´s preparation for landing on the moon in order to answer the questions concerning what we could find in space and in order to beat the Soviet Union in the Space Race. Firstly, unmanned Apollo Missions were sent into space in order to test the structure of the launch vehicles. The moon landing mission housed a great accomplishment for the world. They burst through the glass that separated space and soil. The three authors are all well known publishers and writers. Authors all over the world found these pieces effective and reliable.
Apollo 7 had a significant impact on the 1960s because it was one of the most successful space missions before Apollo 11. “This mission would need to prove the spacecraft's ability to work in space.” After previous failures in the space programs, many critics were unsure of space travel was worth the human lives and resources it may cost. Apollo tested the command and service module (CSM) and assured skeptics that continuing space exploration was important. It had few bumps in its path, but overall it was a very smooth trip.
When it was launched, there was fear about the spacecraft breaking down by the time Neil Armstrong and his crew returns back to Earth. Even with these risks in place, the mission turned out to be a success. The moon was still completely undiscovered because of the primitive technology at that time. There was a risk Neil and his crewmates would die; however, it was a risk they were willing to take, so they set out to explore the Moon in 1969. To respond to this threat of technological superiority, the United States created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to regain its superiority over the Soviet Union in space exploration. The competition had become more intense as more and more milestones were achieved by both parties as both parties strived to become the first to achieve said milestones such as the first human to be in space (Yuri Gagarin), and the first ever American to orbit the Earth (John Glenn). The moon landing, more specifically the famous and well-known Apollo 11 mission in 1969, marked a symbolic victory for the United States. The Apollo 11 mission was the overall victory of the Space Race since the moon landing was the major objective for both sides as being the first one to step on the moon was a major showcase of the United States technological superiority and conveyed how a free-market democracy was more successful.
On July 20th, 1969, the Apollo 11 with astronaut Neil Armstrong and his crew, guided by thousands of NASA technicians, supposedly landed on the surface of the moon. It was certainly one of the most extraordinary events accomplished by mankind up to that date. Neil Armstrong’s first words upon stepping on the moon surface will always be remembered “ A small step for mankind, a giant leap for humanity”. Ever since then, this achievement has been a matter of discussion by several groups that either believed or disbelieved this.
When Neil Armstrong first touched down on the moon in 1969, millions of people watched him take the first step and create history (Villard). Yet even as we’ve moved on from the moon landings and consider them as a pivotal point for mankind, “Forty years after U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human to set foot on the moon, many conspiracy theorists still insist the Apollo 11 moon landing was an elaborate hoax”(Than). The idea that our voyage to the moon was deliberately staged seems to resurface year after year. While the conspiracy theorists claim the moon landing was a hoax, creating a fake moon landing would have been more expensive and difficult than actually reaching the moon.
