Facing the unknown is risky because it produces an outcome that is or is not expected, which is why many people in the modern world tend to avoid it. In contrast, author Anne Morrow Lindbergh supports the idea of exploring the unknown, stating that “its disappointments and surprises that are the most enriching.” Exploring the unknown is seeing and taking on ideas or topics that is not understandable, and finding something new from it. When it was launched, there was fear about the spacecraft breaking down by the time Neil Armstrong and his crew returns back to Earth. Even with these risks in place, the mission turned out to be a success. The moon was still completely undiscovered because of the primitive technology at that time. There was a risk Neil and his crewmates would die; however, it was a risk they were willing to take, so they set out to explore the Moon in 1969. They succeeded in their mission and came back to Earth safely, and the aftermath? The Apollo 11 mission taught the world a lot about the extraterrestrial environment outside of Earth (Urrutia). With the success of Apollo 11, NASA sent more moon explorations, all in hopes of adding to what the Apollo 11 discovered. This demonstrates the idea of exploring the unknown, even if there is high risk whilst exploring it. Apollo 11 justifies the idea that while something might seem too daunting or risky to explore, the rewards that come with it heavily outclass the negatives. What were the rewards? A vital breakthrough in the field of space exploration and many new inventions were made possible using the information gathered from the Apollo missions. One of these examples is fire-resistant material, which was invented when the research was conducted after an accident caused by one of the Apollo missions. More importantly, modern satellites were made thanks to the success of Apollo 11. A lot was learned because of the successful risks taken by Armstrong and his crew, taking what was unknown in the past, and incorporating it into the present and the near future, positively affecting the world as a
