Abbey VanWagner Instructor Bussey BIBL 102 New Testament Survey 19 February 2016 The life of Peter When looking at the life of Peter, it was easy to see that he was an imperfect man. Despite the imperfections that Peter carried, Jesus decided to love on him and mold Peter into who he was called to be anyways. When I think of Peter, the first story that I remember is the story where Peter walked on water and then ended up sinking.

Its origin is, however, a matter of some interest. Von Sybel, in his Geschichte des ersten Kreuzzuges, suggests that in the camp of the pauperes (which existed side by side with that of the knights, and grew increasingly large as the crusade told more and more heavily in its progress on the purses of the crusaders) some idolization of Peter the Hermit had already begun, during the first crusade, parallel to the similar glorification of Godfrey by the
Before Saul became a Christian he persecuted Christians, and he saw the Christian movement as a threat. Saul persecuted Christians and he approved the martyrdom of Stephen. He asked to travel abroad to hunt down more Christians to end the spread and movement. While on his trip, there was a big flash and Jesus spoke to Saul. Three days later one of God’s disciples went to Saul and cured his blindness, Saul was then baptized, changed his name to Paul, and began to preach God’s word.
Peter demonstrated behaviors and competencies consistent with effective leadership in modern life, while his darker side was characterized by an erratic leader enforced through humiliation and horror. Peter was very opportunistic in his actions. He was remarkably able to focus on the future and for his determination to realize his ambitions. His changes are benchmarks for every leader, such as his energy, his continuous personal education and development, his speed and decisiveness, the creation of a new culture, and his extraordinary capacity to lead a nation or people. Despite being a great leader, Peter had quite a few mistakes, which were usually just as spectacular as his achievements.

Like Saint Augustine in the sixth century, Pope Gregory VII tried to reform the church in the eleventh century. During his first synod in 1074 C.E., Gregory " decreed that no one could be admitted to orders without a vow of celibacy and that the laity was forbidden to attend the services of an unchaste priest, deacon, or subdeacon. " This statement stemmed from the pope 's ability of his plenitudo potestatis or fullness of power. The pope would have this authority, because the position of the pope marks a lineage that is supposed to lead back to St. Peter, who the Christian religion was built on. If an individual did not follow Gregory 's decrees, they would receive escalating punishments.

"It is exceedingly negligent in Peter to attempt to demonstrate his confidence by the sword, while he couldn't do as such by his tongue. " Annas was not the official High Priest; but rather as father-in-law to Caiaphas, he was the "power behind the position of royalty." At this point, Peter is brimming with logical inconsistencies. He was intense with a sword in his grasp, however a weakling before a worker girl.a. The consecrated minister at that point got some information about His devotees and His convention: Annas gets some information about Jesus' supporters, maybe on account of dread or envy.
These people were tremendously diverse, but each one had unique way of making a difference. Some of these people include Constantine the Great, who was the emperor of the Romans. Another person who helped construct and aid in the expansion of the religion was the Apostle Paul, a Roman born missionary who preached his ideas amongst others. Paul was one of the most important people in the history of Christianity. This was due to the fact that he was one of the original missionaries and it was said that Jesus had came to
Jude only came to believe that Jesus was the Son of God after His Ascension, his lack of faith during Jesus’ ministry leaves to show how he was still ignorant and in need of the Spirit’s enlightenment. As for Peter, he was impulsive and often let his emotions get the best of him. One example would be when he refused to accept Jesus’ prediction of His death and earned himself a stern rebuke from the Lord. Another would be when he denied having known Christ out of fear (John 18:17). The truly inspiring part of their story is that God chose to overlook these weaknesses, and through His amazing grace, He used them just as they were for
