The Tragedy of Macbeth is a well known story that revolves around the word “ambition” but this ambition isn’t always self driven by someone, but rather through the influence of someone else who maintains control of the situation. The story is about a man whose desire to be the king and have power leads to the murders of those who might stand in his way. Throughout the story we see many characters who play major parts in how one event follows another, and how some characters seem to completely have control of the events in the story. Although in Macbeth the Three Sisters and Macbeth exhibit some control over the events, Lady Macbeth has the most responsibility.
I agree with this quote but to an extent because through the majority if this play, Lady Macbeth is seen as the prominent person who encourages Macbeth to murder the king which eventually contributing to the collapse of her state of mind leading her to her death. However, this can be is a prejudice view and looking intently at the context, it is clearly understood as to why Shakespeare has portrayed Lady Macbeth into being an ambitious, dominant, cunning and determined character. This is portrayed during the scene in which Macbeth loses control she commands ‘Sit worthy friends, my lord is often thus. And hath been from his youth’. Thesis: In Macbeth, Shakespeare’s juxtaposition of his characters’ “deepest desires” with their “false face[s]” furthers the motif of deception and treachery, setting the stage for Macbeth’s ultimate regicide. When the audience sees Lady Macbeth act like a traditional hostess despite her murderous desires, her treachery becomes amplified. Before Duncan arrives, Lady Macbeth is seen on stage planning to influence her husband, who is “too full [of the] milk of human kindness,” to change his nature and murder his cousin and king, Duncan (1.5.17).
In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare gave us a story showing how one's wants can take control over actions. Macbeth, the main character, had learned from witches how his future was going to hold. These witches had given him “prophecies”. With his knowledge of this, it led him and his Wife Lady Macbeth to affect the lives of many other characters in the play. In Summary, desire’s can blind loyalty. MacBeth and Lady MacBeth have proved this point and payed dearly for it with their lives. This theme was expressed and expanded upon throughout the entire play, from the weird sisters prophecy, to the final battle when MacBeth was killed, he was blinded by his desires and he paid for it. This play has shown how people can let what they want become more important than the people they are supposed to have sworn allegiance
Intro In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare there is an astonishing amount of imagery that is used throughout the play to help the audience paint pictures with his words and understand the importance of ambition. The imagery that shows the differences between light and darkness help us understand the struggles your ambition causes you and the path it takes you on. Second, the imagery surrounding the gender demonstrates how the roles of gender can manipulate someone's sense of ambition and drive them to do unexplainable things.
