There is nothing wrong with protesting as long as it is kept peaceful and does not disturb the school or students inside of it. The Tinker vs. Des Moines Independent School is a case that is still reflected upon today. It is referred to in cases concerning freedom of speech. I think that when most people read about this case and look at all the fact and details they will see and agree that students of all ages should be allowed to exercise their rights at school. Schools can make decisions concerning what they want to happen and how they want people to act while on campus, but they can never decide that the people in their building are not entitled to their
This also shows that the group of disobedient activists is trying to make the government listen to their concerns. In order for the Keystone activists to be heard, they had to protest their concerns through the use of civil
Introduction: Are all neat people lazy, wasteful, insensitive, and less moral than sloppy people? Are all men more interested in sports than women, while all women focus their time on housework and cleaning? The answer to both of these questions is no. These questions bring up generalizations that are dealt with in both of the short essays which are as follows: “Neat People vs. Sloppy People” by Suzanne Britt and “Batting Clean-up and Striking Out” by Dave Barry. Suzanne Britt describes the generalized behavior and mindset of neat and sloppy people, which is not a popular stereotype heard in everyday life.
teachers don't agree with it and neither do the students. I do not like dodge ball i do not
1st Amendment and the College Campus Have you ever wondered why some college campus protests are shutdown even though the first amendment is in place? The first amendment does not always protect in every situation. The first amendment wasn’t enforced much until the 1960’s and 70’s, when the anti-war and gender equality protests first started. College campuses have a right to impede on the first amendment if it is restricting someone else’s rights. In many cases some protesters will block off an entrance to an event or will start to harass people walking past.
Imagine a day in the life minor league baseball player. In a typical day, they do so much for nothing. In the morning they get up and make a quick breakfast, they eat it on the go and continue with their day. They get into their car and go straight to the field where they see their teammates getting ready for their warm up. They throw some ball and they start to talk with their coach and see what the plan for the upcoming practice will be.
A public school cannot suspend a student with no notice or hearing because it infringes on his or her rights. The specific amendments broken by the public school officials are primarily the fifth and sixth. Public schools are not allowed to take away rights and liberties given to the American people. The suspended student was denied his rights to due process and his right to formal informant of crime committed. A liberty that every American enjoys is upon crime committed they are awarded a hearing/trial in order to promote fairness.
Open campus at lunch time is a huge advantage for high school students, and is a great punishment as well. The student's responsibility to come back to school on time will have consequences if students don't follow it. This will help them realize that the word is run by rules and if people don't follow them, there will always have consequences. Students will be gaining responsibility for collage and the real world after that. To succeed in life people need independence, maturity, and responsibility.
The First Amendment says that we are in tiled to your own freedom of speech even as a minor. In schools the teachers are trying to limit what students can say, do, or wear. There should be some restrictions placed but not as many as there are. It should stay where students have freedom of speech because it opens students up for more opinion in the class and on there work. It also lets students feel like they are not being controlled by someone.
School could get out earlier if there wasn 't an extra period saved for lunch. Schools could even get an extra period to put in the day for an extra class or just more time to add onto the classes that are already going on in school. Kids would also be healthier if they did not eat the lunch from school because you never know how much fat, grease, and unhealthy ingredients are in school lunches. Even though school lunches make a lot of students not feel good, it could be a good idea to have lunch so they get energy and are not hungry throughout the day.
Open periods and open lunches are something almost every underclassmen looks forward to, as only juniors and seniors can benefit from these privileges. This is how T.F. Riggs High School has worked for many years. Open lunch means that students have the ability to leave during their lunch period; an open period means students do not have a class during a certain period and have the option to leave the school during that period. Students can lose their open privileges if they have failing grades at midterm or at the end of the quarter. Underclassmen should have the option to have opens as long as they can keep their grades up.
As with any publicized issue of this kind, communities were disrupted, causing many to ask if these kinds of protests are even useful. However, while in the short term civil disobedience
Sounds like an ideal afternoon right? If only all schools never gave homework. Homework is used in a lot of countries and in others there isn’t any. Some people believe it helps improve grades and scores. Others think kids should not have homework because it doesn’t help them and use standardized tests to support them.
It becomes very difficult for students who participate in sports directly after school or those who ride the bus to find time to meet with a teach to get help. If they were to stay after school the students who ride a bus would risk missing their bus which lead to a difficult situation for their parents. Many parents are working eight to five jobs or multiple jobs and can’t take an hour to pick their student up and drive them home. If a student missed the bus because they stayed after school their parent could end up losing their job because they had to leave work. A longer lunch break would allow students to go to teachers classrooms and get help during lunch so they don’t miss the bus after school.
