Born in the 1400s, Joan of Arc led France to victory against the English at the battle of Orléans. During that period women had virtually no power or rights and were to meet a certain expectation placed upon them by men. However, despite the difficulties her time provided her with, Arc went on to command an army and defy gender presumption. Ultimately, based on Arcs situation her achievements were not extraordinary in the end because she lost everything but they were phenomenal in the sense that she managed to challenge her society and eternally altar her country in various forms.
