Generals Miki and Washizu are Samurai commanders under a local lord, Lord Tsuzuki, who reigns in the castle of the Spider's Web Forest. After defeating the lord's enemies in battle, they return to Tsuzuki's castle. On their way through the thick forest surrounding the castle, they meet a spirit, who foretells their future. The spirit tells them that today Washizu will be named Lord of the Northern Garrison and Miki will now be commander of the first fortress. She then foretells that Washizu will eventually become Lord of Spiderweb Castle, and finally she tells Miki that his son will also become lord of the castle.

During her teenage years, Joan started to hear voices, which she claimed to be the voices of Saint Michael, Saint Catherine, and Saint Margaret. Later on, those voices spoke to her telling her that the dauphin had to be crowned and that the English had to be expelled from France. Often times at a wedding a priest will ask, “who gives this woman away?” and the father of the bride will say I do. That is because before she is married, she is first the property of her father and then her husband. At what time is she her own property?

She had been burned at the stake in Rowen France where she had been captured by the English army. Women were not allowed to own land, keep any possessions they acquired from their lives with their parents or testify against rape. Women weren’t valued as much as men. Sometimes when they inherited land or belongings their husbands got to keep them in case of divorce, which rarely ever happened. The man in the relationship also got to keep any children born of the two. If a woman was ever raped by her husband she couldn’t testify against him because she would be accused of lying.

Perhaps, it is safe to say women in the Medieval Period were neglected Not only did the women lack appreciation, they were also stripped of some of the most basic rights that men possessed. Unfair laws at the time stated that women could not marry without their parents’ consent,and to make matters worse, they also couldn’t divorce their husbands. Another outrageous law stated that women could not inherit land if she had surviving brothers .
