Putting aside opposing viewpoints, “illegal aliens” are human beings chasing the universal dream of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But, achieving this dream is made impossible because of the limitations enforced by current immigration policies. President Obama’s Administration is making active strides on the issue, but a Republican Congress makes it an obstacle for President Obama to pass any policy regarding immigration. Although immigration can propose complications, the government should be less restrictive because of the economic, cultural and educational benefits stemming from immigration. However, a new report from the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy states that ¨undocumented immigrants currently contribute significantly to state and local taxes...and allowing them to work in the U.S. legally would increase their state and local tax contributions by an estimated $2 billion a year” (¨Undocumented Immigrants¨). This assures their tax dollars would be more equivalent with documented taxpayers; thus, creating a more stable and fair immigration policy.
