As such, whether the debate is made from a political, medical, or economical perspective, the main concern has been if the Federal Government should be the sole decision maker when it comes to determining whether the use of the product is good or not. Being linked to other narcotics makes its legalization inappropriate as it will give room for other drugs to circulate in the market with ease. Again, marijuana is linked with unfashionable lifestyles like crime which affects the well-being of the society. The use of marijuana was at one point linked with oppressed ethnic groups. The use of the drug was initially closely linked to groups that appeared oppressed, thus discouraging any other person from a different social group from using it (Esther et al.165). Finally, all the purported medicinal use of the drug has not been scientifically proved, thus making it illegal to use the product for any medicinal purpose. From the argument presented, it is clear that legalizing marijuana is still debatable as it has both its positives and negatives. From the argument, it is clear that legalizing the product has more benefits compared to the consequences that it brings to the society. Economically, legalizing the product will add to the economy of the country while at the same time giving researchers an opportunity to know whether medicinal marijuana is better compared to the other conventional medicines that are available. While those who are against the use of the product understand that it is highly addictive, those for its legalizing argue that once taken in small doses, the drug always brings more benefits compared to when overdosed.
