I don’t know why we did it, or even how it happened. Our group recently split up because Jack and Ralph disagree on some important ideas, and there was getting to be a lot of tension. Ralph still wants to get rescued, but Jack seems to have forgotten that there is a world outside of the island. Jack called a meeting and asked for the boys to vote if they still wanted Ralph as chief. The did and Jack was very mad. He became a renegade and took his hunters with him to the other side of the island. I stayed with Ralph because I still want to get rescued, but I almost wanted to follow Jack. We went just to make sure nothing bad happened. That was our excuse anyway. The real reason that we went was to eat, but we didn't want to join Jack’s tribe. Ralph and Jack were fighting over who the real chief was when it started to storm. Jack and his tribe started doing a dance and chanting about a pig. It was pretty wizard, and soon everyone was dancing. Then a dark figure crawled out of the forest all of a sudden. It was talking! It said something about a dead man on the hill, and the boys surrounded it. They were stabbing and yelling and running about. The beast was dead shortly afterward, and its body was taken out to sea. I was just in the back, so what happened wasn't my fault. The thing that died that night wasn't a beast, it was Simon. We killed Simon…well, Jack killed Simon. Ralph and I abhor what happened, but Piggy insisted that it was an accident. I really cannot believe that Simon is dead. It’s like that one movie…I can’t remember the name. Anyway, we murdered Simon. I mean, we didn't stab him, but we were there and didn't do anything to help him. I don't think about the old world too much anymore, but I know what happened is wrong, very wrong. We have to get off of the island
