Final Essay on Othello In the book Othello written by William Shakespear, one of the protagonists also known as the as the villain of the play named Iago is often debated on to decide if he is completely villainous or if he has real reasons for getting revenge against Othello. Another argumentation is choosing if he is a realistic character or does his behavior and emotions seem completely implausible. Although it seems like Iago has no motives in the play other than him being jealous about Othellos general position. In addition Iago has already demonstrated that he will do anything to get what he wants and won’t stop for anything. As Iago's plot goes on he gets closer to Othello leading up to him hurting Othello by feeding him lies. To begin one example of Iago being completely corrupt is that he is able to seem humble to Othello because he serves under General Othello. Along with that Iagos capacity for cruelty is limitless, including killing his friend and back stabbing his friends. With no motivation shows how he is a sociopath without emotions. Iago is acting like he's showing off what he is about to do, as if he is proud of his behavior. Shakespeare does this on purpose to show the audience what Iago is like.
