Technology is constantly becoming more and more advanced every year. It is constantly being integrated into our lifestyle, giving benefits and advantages every day. Technology has just started to be present in law enforcement. The use of the police body camera is steadily on the rise in police departments across the United States. This technology helps our society today because it helps law enforcement be more effective. The best way to ensure smooth, effective and honest police work is with the body camera. These small devices come in many small shapes and sizes. Some are worn directly on the body while others clip on to glasses or to the shoulder. But they all serve …show more content…

Extensive research seemed to suggest that people appear to change their behavior once aware of their actions being recorded. Under scrutiny of the camera, people become much more self-conscious about their actions and tend to adhere to something that is deemed more socially acceptable. Not only does it affect how the public behaves but the officers on the job as well. Even their behavior is changed by the presence of the camera, with police encounters becoming much more transparent to the public and legitimate accusations against police now being brought under close inspection much more often. Even when the officer is at fault the footage captured can be used as a learning experience to educate officer about what to do in real life situations.
