The topic I would like is advanced directives. I have worked in surgical centers and the first question asked before surgery is “do you have and advanced directive?”. I feel that every individual should have an advanced directive because it is vital to providing good healthcare. An advanced directive is a written document which state’s an individual’s wishes so that they can be carried out if they are unable to communicate with their doctor. It is very important to have one because in an emergency situation (ex. a problem after surgery), many family members may have different feeling on what the plan of care of the patient should be and their emotions can cause them to overlook the wishes of their loved one.
Helping our veterans should be mandatory because of their sacrifice. Even though some people believe war veterans acquire enough from the Government, others believe they deserve more for their services. Veterans of the United States of America should not be homeless since they fought for our country with a sense of bravery and commitment. Therefore, the Department of Veterans Affairs should be reconstructed, also expanded to meet the growing need of our veterans.
President Harry Truman gave an executive order in 1945 to drop to atomic bombs in popular downtown cities in Japan. With the guidance of many scientists and political leaders President Truman made the extremely tough decision to drop the bombs. After listening to arguments from both sides President Truman came to the conclusion that dropping bombs would be the best thing to do for this war. It would also show that the United States had an extreme military power. Many American politicians were for the idea of dropping the bomb, because they believed that it was the only way to end the war and get Japan to surrender.

When it comes to end of life care, Colorado has limited options due to the fact that Death with Dignity is not legal. A patient that is terminally ill can choose between palliative care and hospice to finish out their final days. While there are options for end of life care in Colorado, they are costly, and do not take into account the patient’s will to live. Viewed through a quantitative and ethical lens, both major options not only hinder, but also are detrimental, to Colorado’s ability to provide end of life care. The passage of Death with Dignity legislation would provide an alternative, and could potentially alleviate some of undue financial and emotional stress put on terminally ill patients.
Children are the future. That is why it is important for them to receive the best healthcare as possible. However, there are some questions as to what is included in the best healthcare, including whether or not it is safe for children to be vaccinated. Questions arose when an article was published with alarming results that indicated vaccines could be the cause of autism in children. The disputed article lead to many anti-vaccine movements.
Over the past year, I have been working in Dr. Lewis’ Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. In addition to routine technician duties, like the general ordering and stocking of supplies, radiation safety documentation and wipetests, and maintaining chemical inventory, I’ve also been assigned to work on different projects with various Research Fellows. While working here, I have learned various skills and procedures and have used them to contribute to different experiments and teach new research technicians and fellows. I have become an integral part of our team and have been trained to play my role proficiently.
“Nuclear power will help provide the electricity that our growing economy needs without increasing emissions. This is truly an environmentally responsible source of energy.” Michael Burgess Prior to the introduction of nuclear energy, fossil fuel was thought to be the only available source in producing energy. Although fossil fuel, such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas, contains high energy value, it produces too many harmful byproducts that ultimately pollute our environment. With the rising concerns over global warming as more and more greenhouse gases accumulate in our Earth’s atmosphere, many voice such opinions that new alternative, yet sustainable method must be adopted to produce energy.
The Dropping of the Atomic Bomb. On the 6th August 1945 at approximately 8:15am, a US bomber plane dropped the first atomic bomb on the city of Hirsoshima in Japan which instantly killed 80 000 people. The bomb was named ‘Little Boy’ and was a uranium gun-type atomic bomb which weighed 5 tons. Three days later another bomb was dropped, on the city of Nagosaki, which was a plutonium implosion-type bomb named ‘Fat Man’ and it killed 40 000 people instantly.
Cancer, heart disease, blood disorders, nerve disorders, and many more genetic diseases are affecting millions of people around the world. The more society advances, the more degenerate diseases are affecting the citizens. For a number of years researchers have been searching for cures. With new developments in gene editing, treatments for many diseases are just around the corner. Gene editing with new technology, CRISPR, matches with a specific gene and splits the protein.
Over the years in my life, I’ve noticed that the biggest questions that are asked often start with the term, “why.” We as human beings like to ponder the reality of life that we face and then focus on finding the answer to that question. Today, I have that same feeling about something: nuclear energy. I’ve often wondered why people feared its mechanics. I’ve often wondered the positive impact it may have on the environment if used properly.
Argumentative Essay The nuclear weapons are the inventions of human beings. They are the most destructive devices ever invented in the history. They were created for the defense purposes but instead they create a sense of unsafety. The nuclear blasts occur and release an immense energy which is fatal to human life.
Radiation have enough energy that can damage the cell and tissue of human body. The cell and tissue in our body will undergo some chemical process changes and cause cell to die or become abnormal. The cells have DNA that encode some genetic material. DNA is important to build new protein in our body. If DNA is damaged by radiation, some chemical changes take part and lead to cancerous cells and the normal body function will be disturb.
The University of Maryland Medical Center states that Herbal Therapy also called botanical medicine or phytomedicine, refers to using plant’s, seeds, berries, leaves, barks, or flowers for medicinal purposes. Herbalism has a long tradition of use outside conventional medicine. It is becoming more mainstream as improvements in analysis and quality control, along with advances in clinical research, show the value of herbal medicine in treating and preventing diseases. Herbal medicine is a natural, non-toxic way to treat many conditions of ill-health. It is holistic, meaning it treats the whole person, embracing all levels of an individual: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
