How convenient is the penny? Pennies, for the most part, just take up space and aren't significant to a lot of homes. While pennies take space they also aren't cost effective, and cost more than they are worth to make. With all of these true factors, there is the opposing argument that pennies are useful, and don't take space. It is true that pennies should be eliminated because they are not significant to homes, and they aren't cost effective.
Pennies aren't significant. A quote from the text, “Pennies take up too much space on our dressers at home,” (Sommer, Paragraph 3) This text basically tells the reader that pennies are significant to people's homes. The readers can also infer that the penny is a waste of space because of their worth.

A quote from the text, “Pennies are ‘too heavy and are not cost-effective to ship” (Mancuso, Paragraph 1) This text tells the reader that pennies are not cost efficient and are too heavy to ship. This text also says that pennies aren't effective to ship, and are too heavy to ship, being the fact that enough pennies may sink a ship or plane. The readers can also infer from the text that the pennies being too expensive means that the coin is not efficient to make because to make a penny it should cost a penny. Another quote from the text, “Pennies cost more to produce than they are worth.”(Penny Wise, or 2.4 Cents Foolish? Paragraph 4) This text tells the reader that pennies are more expensive to make then the worth. The readers can also infer from the text that this factor of the penny being more expensive than worth makes the money provider, or the circulatory system crash from lack of money. The readers can tell from the text that the worth of money goes down every time a penny is made, causing the economy to go down more every time. Pennies aren't cost effective, and should be eliminated, but there is an equal other side to the …show more content…
A quote from the text, ”If the school had organized a dime or a quarter drive, they probably would not have raised as much money.”(Waterhouse, Paragraph 4) This text may convince the reader that pennies are significant, but that statement is wrong because a lot of people have a lot of quarters and dimes sitting around as well. This quote will also try to convince the reader that the pennies worth never changes, the pennies worth is always changing when more are made. Another example, “Pennies might be a little bulky, but they add up; moreover, because they are worth so little, people don’t mind donating them to charity. Students at WMS found that out for themselves last week.” (Waterhouse Paragraph 3) this text may be trying to convince the reader that pennies are good by saying people don't mind giving them away. However, these statements are wrong, why would people want to give away money when by eliminating the penny it could give building structures to the poor instead by putting those metals into the building structure itself. A final quote from the article, “the penny still costs the U.S. just over 1.8 cents to produce.”(The Ever-Changing Penny, Paragraph 4) This text might be trying to convince the reader that pennies are cheap but they aren't. According to a previous paragraph, pennies aren't cost
