Technologies impact on psychological workplaces Over the decades psychologists have developed interest in the use of technology and the internet and how this can benefit counselling services (Abbott, Klein, Ceichomski, 2008, pp 1). This does not necessarily mean online services growth will decrease however, Harris et al (2015) suggests that face-to-face methods and online methods can work in conjunction with each other to create effective communications amongst counsellors and patients. Clough et al (2011, p 3) mention the need to examine ways in which to enhance traditional methods of communication in the workplace to keep traditional means of communication fluent. Harris et al (2015), mention with all online communication accessed by the internet it can easily be jeopardised in which the communication is transmitted. Although software is available to scan devices of viruses, it is not guaranteed to protect the privacy of information nor keep threatening viruses out. Understanding the risks involved with utilising technology allows individuals to partake in training to understand how to prevent vulnerability amongst the workplace with online services. Online services do present disadvantages such as financial costs, reliability, and misinterpretation, technology may benefit individuals in ways however the reliability of the machines is too question. Internet crashes and malfunctions with the device disadvantages those individuals who wish to communicate online. Traditional methods now seem more favourable in the way disadvantages play a part in online services, understanding and comparing the benefits and risks in both methods of counselling services gives individuals either option to receive the service yet traditional methods do not present near as many disadvantages as online
