Military service has been a great option for many young men in the past, but lately everyone seems to be going to college. Is going to college really the best option? Of course college is always an option, but is there a better way to go about it? Maybe military service can be better if used in the right manner. I believe that the best option for the next chapter in my life is military because it offers many benefits, and best suits me.
The University of Cincinnati has virtually zero risk to life and limb. Even if the hallways are like combat zones, the University does not produce death tolls. In the military there is something called the “GI” bill which will help pay for college. The post 9/11 GI Bill pays about 1000 dollars for books per year, and about 22,500 dollars per year for education. This, along with 1,300 dollars a month for housing, approximates to around 90,000 dollars a year for college (@ClearanceJobs). This significantly helps veterans get the education they need for their futures. Also, this is job. I would be getting paid to do my job, and serve our country. This is also a great way to promote military as a great option for our youth today. Cincinnati is a college, so of course payment is required. The full time tuition rate for Cincinnati is 11,000 dollars per year for in state residents, and 26,334 dollars per year for out of state residents. They also recommend to budget 750 dollars per semester for books and supplies. Cincinnati has cheaper options, such as Clermont College, and UC Blue Ash College. Clermont College is 5,316 dollars per year for in state residents, and 12,548 dollars per year for out of state residents. UC Blue Ash College is 6,010 dollars per year for in state residents, and 14,808 dollars per year for out of state residents. Room and board costs for all three colleges range from 10,928 dollars to 12,805 dollars per year, depending on meal plan (2016-17 costs).
