The Death penalty is one of the most controversial punishment in the United States. The question is that is it a good way of punishment for the people who murder and rape. Some people believe that it is a good way for retribution for the victims while others believe that death is the easy way out and it is not enough for retribution. I am in the middle because i think it depends on the situation. But i Do consider both sides.

Many people believe that the death penalty should be used. It costs less than the usual life imprisonment. It costs money to keep clothes clean, keep them fed, keep them healthy and overall utilities. It costs the taxpayers more to pay for life without parole than to pay for the death penalty. IT also deters criminals to commit felonies. It is the worst punishment to get. It scares would be murderers to not commit crimes. It causes the crime rate to not increase. It is only for the crimes against life will get the death penalty. No burglary offender will get it. The death penalty may be effective but it also is not accurate. There have been 157 cases of exonerated from death row since 1973. This shows that the death row has wrongly convicted innocent people. The death penalty should only be given in undeneiable that the person is guilty. David Keaton was given the death penalty but he was later let go because the witness identified mistaken and coerced confessions. If the courts were more thorough on sentencing the death penalty then there will be less cases of innocence.
