Argumentative Essay: The Endangered Species Act

147 Words1 Pages
The endangered species act is given more than 1 million dollars in government funding to protect and restore plants and animals that are threatened by extinction. Funds are distributed equally between the plants and animals, a flaw that keeps many more endangered species from being added onto the list. This is due to not having enough money and not being able to delist species fast enough. Instead of helping each species equally, focus on plants and animals that benefit Earth and the human race the most. Focus on those that are key elements in food chains. Focus on plants and animals that help to stabilize and regenerate habitats. Another reason is that the government is focusing on short term problems, not those that may not be a big deal
