October 1, 2017 a gunman by the name of Stephen Paddock fires at crowd at concert from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort. He takes the lives of fifty nine innocent people and wounds 489 others. Then he proceeds to kill himself. This became one of biggest modern United States history mass shooting which was initiated by an American. According to USA Today, Paddock was said to have twenty three guns in his hotel room. Moreover, it is recorded that he posses more than thirty three guns. This sounds alarming and suspicious, which makes people wonder why no such inquiries were made into Paddock possession of guns earlier. That is why many Americans go through long lines in the airport waiting for security check to be completed because, although it is time consuming and frustrating, nobody was another 9/11 incident to occur in the United States ever again. Why not proceed with a similar action for gun control? Not only are there threats of terror attacks from foreigners, but also there are threats of mass murders conducted by Americans themselves. For example, there was the Sandy Hook elementary shooting and shootings at the movie theater. Yes, protecting American’s Second Amendment right is necessary for some people. For example, those who live in remote areas and need gun to protect them from wild animals and thieves because it will time before police or someone assistance can arrive. However, such protection could be provided by one or two rifles. Normal Americans do not need semi-automatic guns for protection. Moreover, it is highly unlikely for an person going to a concert to bring a gun for protection. Due to the frequency of the shootings, Americans live in fear everyday hoping that they or their loved ones will not be the ones to end up in the wrong place at the wrong
